3.6.2.1 The grease sample preliminary heated up to 80 Celsius degree is mixed well by the glass rod during 5 min.

3.6.2.2 The paper filter is washed consistently with petrol or the solvent, toluene and additionally processed by filtering 50 cm of hot alcohol at temperature 50-60 Celsius degree. If necessary, the filter is washed 50 cm of hot distilled water heated up to a temperature from plus 90 to plus 100 Celsius degree.

The filter is put in a clean dry cup for weighting. The cup with the filter with open lid is dried in the drying Cabinet at temperature (105+/-2) Celsius degree during 45 min, after so the cup is closed the lid.

The cup with the filter is cooled for 30 min, and then is weighted with an error of no more than 0,0002 g.

The filter Cup is dried and weighed until the difference between two consecutive weighings is no more than 0.0004 g.

Repeated drying of the filter is carried out within 30 minutes.

3.6.2.3. The solvents were filtered through a filter of the same type, which are testing the lubrication.

3.6.3. Testing

3.6.3.1. A sample of lubricant take weight about 100 g with error of at most 0.05 grams is placed in a beaker and diluted with gasoline or a solvent, heated to a temperature of 70 °C.

The ratio of the volume of the solvent to the mass of the grease sample is from 2 to 4.

Before the test, the minimum amount of solvent required to dissolve the sample is determined in advance.

3.6.3.2. The contents of the glass are filtered through a paper filter prepared in accordance with clause 3.6. 2. 2, placed in a funnel for hot filtering or in a glass funnel mounted in a tripod.

It is allowed to filter the solution and wash the filter with the sediment under vacuum.

The solution is poured on the filter on a glass stick, the funnel with the filter is filled with a solution no more than 3/4 of the height of the filter.

The remainder is washed off the glass with pure gasoline or petroleum solvent, heated to 70 °C, until a drop of filtrate placed on the filter paper will not leave an oil stain after evaporation.

3.6.3.3. for filtering under vacuum, the funnel for filtering with a rubber stopper is attached to the flask for filtering under vacuum, connected to the pump. The paper filter is wetted with a solvent and placed in the funnel so that the filter fits snugly against the walls of the funnel.

The funnel is filled with a solution no more than 3/4 of the height of the filter.

When filtering with the use of a funnel for hot filtration, it is not allowed to boil the filtered solution.

Petrol solution or solution of petroleum solvent were allowed to heat to a temperature not higher than 70 °C.

3.6.3.4. After filtration, the filter with the sediment is washed with gasoline or petroleum solvent heated to 70 °C until there are no traces of grease on the filter and the solvent flows completely transparent and colorless.

Additionally, the filter is washed with toluene precipitate, heated to a temperature of no more than 80 °C, and if there is a sediment on the filter heated to a temperature of 60 °C alcohol-toluene mixture.

3.6.3.5. the Filter with a precipitate after washing with an organic solvent is dried in air for 10-15 minutes and then washed with distilled water heated to a temperature of 90 to 100 °C.

3.6.3.6. Transfer the filter with the precipitate to a Cup for weighing with an open lid, in which a clean filter was dried, and dry in a drying Cabinet at a temperature (105±2) °C for at least 45 minutes. Then the Cup is closed with a lid, cooled in a desiccator for 30 minutes and weighed with an error of no more than 0.0002 g.

The filter Cup is dried and weighed until the difference between two consecutive weighings is no more than 0.0004 g. Repeated drying of the filter as well as subsequent cooling is carried out for 30 minutes.

3.6.3.7. to determine the presence of sand and other abrasive mechanical impurities, the sediment obtained on the filter is considered with the naked eye.

In the presence of sand and (or) other abrasive mechanical impurities on one of the filters, the test is repeated.

If there are mechanical abrasives or sand on at least one of the filters, the lubricant is considered to have failed the test during repeated testing.

3.6.4. Processing results

3.6.4.1. the Mass fraction of mechanical impurities (%) as a percentage is calculated using the formula:

where is the weight of the weighing Cup with a paper filter and mechanical impurities, g;

- weight of the weighing Cup with a clean prepared paper filter, g;

- sample weight, g.

3.6.4.2. the test result is taken as the arithmetic mean of the results of two parallel definitions.

3.6.4.3. Convergence

Two determination results obtained by a single laboratory assistant are considered reliable (with a confidence probability of 95%), if the discrepancy between them does not exceed 0.005%.

3.6.4.4. Reproducibility

Two test results obtained by different laboratory assistants in two different laboratories are considered reliable (with a confidence probability of 95%), if the discrepancy between them does not exceed 0.01%.

The mass fraction of mechanical impurities up to 0.005% inclusive is estimated as their absence.

3.7. Penetration is determined by mixing without preliminary melting.

4. Transportation and storage

4.1 Transportation and storage is carried out according to GOST 1510.

5. Manufacturer’s guarantee

5.1 The manufacturer guarantees the conformity of the grease quality with the requirements of this standard, if transportation and storage conditions are met.

5.2 The warranty period for storing of the grease is 10 years from the day of manufacture.
