The grease is workable at temperature from minus 30 to plus 110 Celsius degree and humidity up to 98 %. A mixture of petroleum oils thickened with lithium stearate; it contains an antioxidant additive and molybdenum disulfide.

Put into effect by the Resolution of State Committee of standards of the Ministers of the USSR of January 20, 1975 N 103.

The term limit was lifted under the Protocol N 5-94 of the Interstate Council for standardization, Metrology and certification (IUS 11-12-94).

Edition with Changes N 1, 2, 3 approved in February 1978, in July 1985, in Mart 1990 (IUS 2-78, 10-85, 6-90).

This standard applies on the antifriction plastic grease VNII NP-242 intended for rolling bearings operating at temperature rates from minus 40 to plus 110 Celsius degree at humidity of environment up to 98%.

The grease must be manufactured by thickening of industrial oil I-50A according to GOST 20799-88 or machine oil SU from Volgograd petroleum with lithium stearate with the addition of molybdenum disulfide additive and with diphenylamine according to regulatory and technical documentation.

The designation of the grease according GOST 23258-78 is Oli 3/11-d3.

1. Specifications

1. Safety requirement

1a.1 According to the grade of impact on the body, the grease belongs to the 4th hazard-class according to GOST 12.1.007-76. The grease doesn’t impact a toxic effect on the body, skin and mucous membranes of the eyes and upper respiratory tract.

1a.2 The grease has a low elasticity of saturated vapors, so dangerous concentrations to the body aren’t created.

1a.3 The grease VNII NP-242 is a combustible product. Flash point temperature of the fluid component is higher than plus 200 Celsius degree.

1a.4 While operate with the grease must apply personal protective equipment according to the industry standards approved in the established order.

1a.5 In case of ignites, of the grease the following fire extinguishing means are applicable: foam and carbon dioxide fire extinguishers, asbestos felt mat.

2. Acceptance rules

2.1 The grease is taken in batches. A batch is considered to be a quantity of grease weighting up to 4 t, manufactured during continuous technological cycle, homogeneous on the quality indicators, accompanied by the quality document.

2.2 The volume of samples is determined according to GOST 2517-85.

2.3 If unsatisfactory test results are obtained for at least one indicator, repeated tests are performed on a newly selected sample take from the same sample.

The results of repeated tests are distributed to the entire batch.

2.4 The indicator for indicator 4б of the table is periodically determined once a month.

3. Test methods

3.1 Sampling is carried out according to GOST 2517-85. The mass of the combined sample is 1 kg of paste.

3.2 To determine the appearance, the grease is applied with a spatula on a glass plate according GOST 111-90 size 50x70x2 mm using a template (internal dimensional 35x35 mm, thick 2 mm) and viewed with the naked eye in passing light.

3.3 Corrosion effects on metals is determined on copper plates grades M1k or M2 according to GOST 859-2001. It’s allowed discoloration or weak staining of copper plates.

4. Packing, labeling, transportation and storage

4.1 Packing, labeling, transportation and storage of the grease is carried out according to GOST 1510-84 with the follow addition: the grease is packed in banks made of white tin with capacity up to 1 dm, 3 or 5 dm in cans made of white tin with capacity up to 20 dm.

When packing of the grease in cans the labeling can be made with stamp on the lid, or the bottom of the can.

4.2 The grease must be stored in the manufacturer’s container.

5. Manufacturer’s guarantee

5.1 The manufacturer guarantees the conformity of the grease with the requirements of this standard if storage and transportation conditions are met.

5.2 The warranty period for storing of the grease is 5 years from the day of manufacturer.
